Easy things to make for Easter on a budget! Add some paint to Dollar Tree Easter baskets for elegant decor or centerpieces.

Hi Friends!  I have been doing a series on things to make for Easter that I am creating for a Ladies Night Out hosted by my church.  I was asked to decorate 12 round tables and some rectangular tables in my style and of course for me, that means on a budget!

 I like to show others how you can decorate nicely and easily without spending a fortune.  All you have to do is paint a few things.

That is what I did for this DIY Easter egg basket makeover that I am using as part of the centerpieces.

Here’s a little before and after picture so you can see how far a little paint and creativity can go!

Materials Needed for DIY Easter Egg Basket Makeover

• wire basket – purchased from Dollar Tree
• plastic eggs – purchased from Dollar Tree
• wet floral foam
• foil
• spanish moss
• greenery or baby’s  breath – I got mine from Trader Joe’s
• chalk paint

How to Paint Dollar Tree Baskets

The first thing I did was paint the white wire Dollar Tree baskets.  I used 3 different colors of chalk paint so that I ended up with 4 of each color.

After they are fully dry you can add the stuff inside.  

Making Easy Easter Centerpiece

I was using these for Easter centerpieces but you could do all sorts of things with these baskets for baby showers or birthday parties.

So the flowers would last longer and so I didn’t have to add so much moss, I cut wet floral moss into sections.  

Then I put a bit of foil around them so the water wouldn’t leak out and put them on the bottom of the basket.

Then I just put Spanish moss around the outside of the foam and a little on top.

For the eggs, I painted Dollar Tree eggs and added 5-6 to each basket.  You can find the full tutorial by clicking here.

For the cross, I found some sticks at a park and just tied jute twine around them to hold them together and then to tie it onto the handle.

I originally was going to add baby’s breath on top, but I happened to be at Trader Joe’s and saw this greenery with little white and pink flowers.  

I added water to the foam and then I just cut off little sections and stuck them in the foam between the eggs.

Voila!  Easy peasy and I think the whole basket cost less than $2 to make!

Pair it with a cute little Easter wood sign (click here for my tutorial) and some Easter trinkets and you have some sweet and inexpensive things to make for Easter centerpieces.
