- Cricut machine – Cricut Explore Air, Cricut Explore Air 2 or 3, Cricut Maker, Cricut Maker 3 (can use Cricut Joy for a smaller sign) – still deciding… learn which Cricut is right for you!
- Heart Truck SVG file – I used one from a Valentine SVG pack from Creative Fabrica found here
- Cardstock – I’m using red and pink glitter cardstock from this pack
- Iron-on vinyl (optional)
- Cricut EasyPress Mini (optional) and pressing mat
- Dollar Tree wood frame
- Adhesive foam, glue sticks, or your favorite adhesive
- Cricut mat and weeding tools
On a new canvas in Cricut Design Space, upload the Valentine’s Day cut file. Since I want to make the image pop from my frame I added a shadow layer.
Click on the truck and then click on Offset on the top menu. Change the distance of offset to the desired size. I chose 0.24 in for my truck and 0.05 for the hearts so that they would be separated.
I always like to add a square and change it to the size of my sign so that I can size the image. Once I’ve sized it to how I want it to fit, I delete off the square!
Then if you are using this Valentine’s truck image, make sure to click on just the truck and click on Attach. I learned the hard way that it wasn’t attached already!
This is totally optional! For more intricate cuts like this one, I prefer to cut the image out of iron-on vinyl instead of cardstock. Yes, you can add HTV onto cardstock easily! So I turned the Mirror setting on.
Click on Continue and follow all of the onscreen prompts from Cricut Design Space. Place the different colors of cardstock on a clean cutting mat and load when prompted.
Unload the mat when prompted and remove the mat from the cardstock. Repeat for each mat.
If using iron on vinyl, place a piece shiny side down and cut. Weed off the excess material with weeding tools.
Once all the materials are cut, it’s time to put everything together!
I preheated my Cricut Easy Press Mini to level two then place the foil iron on vinyl liner side up on the cardstock layer (on a pressing mat). With constant movement, press all over the HTV for about 20 seconds. Remove the liner when cool to the touch.
Next I glued the small paper hearts to the corresponding heart shadow layer with a glue stick and the hearts and tires onto the truck shadow layer.
I wanted the cute Valentine image to pop out, so I added foam tape to the backside and then placed it on the square board.
Easy Peasy! Now the Happy Valentine’s Day decor sign is ready to hang up anywhere!
I hope you got inspired by some of these Cricut valentines decor ideas and are ready to craft now!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a creative day!
