Are you ready for some football?? We were! One of the easiest and cheapest birthday parties I ever threw for my son was a football themed party. He went through a stage where he was obsessed with everything football and since my hubby also is, it made things pretty easy!
Football Themed Party Ideas
We sent out football themed party invitations pretty early since I knew I wanted to make personalized t-shirt jerseys for all the boys. I made an invitation with my son’s favorite team (not sure why Eagles was his favorite team, but it was at the time).
My son picked two colors he wanted for the teams and I made shirts with my Cricut Explore and heat transfer vinyl for all the boys. (For a tutorial on how to make t-shirts click here.) Just put last name on the top and a number in middle. We dropped off all the shirts to the boys’ houses a few days before with a note on it to wear the shirt to the party. The boys loved the shirts and still wear them all the time to school. It’s so fun to see them wearing them still!
We had all the boys meet at an artificial turf park in town where there were some tables nearby. We made some cut outs in a tarp and hung it in a soccer goal for the boys to practice throwing in while they all arrived.
After all the boys showed up, they separated into the two teams. I got this Flag Football Deluxe Set off Amazon that included all belts and flags. My hubby and one of his friends were the coaches and they ran a few drills with the boys and then they played a game. I was setting up the table at this time with hot dogs, chips, and cake. Super easy! I got a few football bowls at the dollar store and found some football pretzels for them to snack on. We got small nerf footballs from the dollar store for party favors along with their shirts.
The football themed party was a lot of fun for a minimal amount of money and energy on my part! Usually I spend months on birthday parties, but this one was pretty quick and I actually felt like I wasn’t doing much! Which is a good thing!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!
