If you are anything like me, then you need and use any positivity you can get in life. I have worked hard on changing my automatic negative thoughts to positive ones, but it wasn’t easy.
We are currently working on helping our kids with this too. Over the hard seasons of life, our brains can start playing tricks on us and focus on the negative.
But there are proven ways to retrain your brain into having more positive thoughts, and one of them is by repeating affirmations over and over until your brain changes its hardwiring. Enter affirmation cards!
What are Affirmation Cards?
Affirmations are “I statements” that are used to encourage positivity in your thoughts and heart. By repeating affirmations over and over, our brains will start to be retrained into thinking more confident thoughts (rather than negative ones).
If you are as old as I am, you might remember the funny Saturday Night Live sketch of Stuart Smalley saying “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!” Positive affirmations at their best, right?!
Even though those sketches were meant to be funny, the daily habit of positive affirmations has been studied to be beneficial to psychological and physical health. You can read all about the science behind positive affirmations here.
Some people will look in a mirror and recite certain affirmations every morning to put them in a positive mindset for the rest of the day. Others will read and meditate on an affirmation before they go to bed at night.
There are also tons of different types of affirmation cards, including birth affirmation cards, Christmas affirmations, encouragement cards, positive lunchbox cards, and affirmation cards for women, but today I have scripture cards for you.
How to Use Christian Affirmation Cards
Christian affirmation cards are specifically for people of faith. Telling yourself and remembering that we are loved by God no matter what can help so much when dealing with the trials of life.
Repeating and praying on biblical affirmations such as “I am worthy”, “I am a Child of God”, “I can do all things through Christ”, and “I am enough” help me in ways I can’t explain.
There are so many ways to use affirmation cards. Once downloaded and printed out the religious affirmation cards, cut them apart so you have 24 different cards.
You can use them as part of a meditation routine. Pull one card out of the pack (or deck) and repeat the saying to yourself while breathing deeply to set your intention for the day.
Or print out a couple of copies of the positive affirmation decks you like the most so you can put them all over. Tape some up on mirrors or cupboards in your house.
Attach the printable affirmation cards to the refrigerator or message board with magnets. When you happen to see one, read the bible affirmation out loud (or in your head if you want) and take a few deep breaths.
I like to put a few in my car since my anxiety rises when I’m driving. I’ll start reciting the positive Christian affirmation at stoplights!
