How to Play Guess How Many Game
For this classic game, you don’t need everyone’s attention because guests of large groups can do it anytime during the party.
You can set up the game at the entrance when guests first enter and put on a name tag.
Or you can have it on the snack table or near where they would put presents.
Remind your guests at the beginning of the baby shower party and throughout (like after games such as mad libs) to make sure they fill in the answer cards with their best guesses!
Fill any type of container you want (or that matches your theme) with small items and place it out next to the game sheet. Guests will look at the container with their eyes only, and write down their best guess of how many of the items there are without going over.
Then have a basket or container for the guests to put their filled-in cards in.
At the end of the shower, you’ll go through all the answers and pick the winner based on the person closest to the right answer without going over. Announce the winner and give them a baby shower prize!

For the container, you want something that is see through or clear. Guests will have to be able to see all the way around the container and everything inside so you need to provide an easy way.
For a baby shower, a fun way to display the items to count is a large baby bottle (like this one foot tall one on Amazon) or any glass or plastic jars with lids (like mason jars).
And then here are some options for what to put inside the container:
- jelly beans (large container)
- Hershey kisses (you can even make custom Hershey Kiss labels!)
- M&Ms (you can even get preprinted baby shower M&Ms)
- lego pieces
- candy corn
- peanuts (for a baby animal elephant theme shower
- other small pieces of chocolate or candy
- yogurt covered raisins or nuts
- small cookies or circus animal cookies or animal crackers
- pom poms
- buttons
- gummy bears
- cereal pieces
- smarties
- mints
- gum
- beads or small pacifiers
- glass rocks
Ideally, if part of the prize is the container and goodies itself, then you’ll want to put in something people will actually enjoy or like!
Before you dump any of the items in the container, make sure to count how many you put in! This takes a long time so make sure to write it down on an answer key and keep it safe!!
Then mark off one of the game activities on your baby shower checklist printable.
