Cute and easy Horton Hears a Who Craft using a paper plate and cup.
Materials
- Paper Cup or Foam Cup
- Paper Plate
- Paint (white, black and red paint)
- White Paper
Tools
- Paint brush
- Black marker or black Sharpie
- Scissors
- Printer
- Glue
Instructions
- Gather your list of supplies.
- Download the Horton template from below. Print it out on regular copy paper. Cut the template pieces out. Use the cutout pieces of the elephant ears and elephant trunk as a template. Place the template pieces on a paper plate and trace around each one. Cut out the traced patterns.
- Mix some black paint and white paint together to make gray paint. Paint the paper cup all around the outside.
This will be the Horton's head.
- Also, paint the cut templates with gray paint. Alternatively, you could use grey colored craft papers or cardstock if you have those.
Let the paint dry.
- While the paint is drying, make the eyes from the white paper cut out. Color in the pupils in with a black marker.
- Once the paint is dry, add the ear and trunk template (paper strip) to the Horton head cup one at a time with craft glue or a hot glue gun.
- Then glue on the eyes. Or you can switch it up and use googly eyes if you want!
- Crumble up a piece of paper to make a circle. Paint it red. This will be be the flower on his trunk. You could also use a pom pom or small round paper. Or even make a stem of the flower with a green pipe cleaner and add a pink pom-pom to it! Crafting is all about doing how you want!
- Glue the crumpled paper on the trunk of the elephant and Horton is all done!
