DIY Pop-Up Mother's Day Card
Easy flower in a watering can pop-up card for Mom or Grandma for Mother's Day or as a just because card!
Tools
- pencil
- ruler
- scissors
- glue
- markers
Instructions
- Download and print the card template PDF file from below on copy paper. Cut out the watering can with scissors. We will be using this as a template! Choose any color paper for your watering can. I chose a brown craft paper.
- Place the watering can template on top of the craft paper and trace around it with a pencil. Then cut out the can.
- Use a marker or Sharpie to draw the outlines of the opening and spout on the water can. Get creative! Add polka dots or draw a butterfly on the can.
- Just as above, cut out the flowers, leaves, and stems, from the copy paper and use them as templates on colored paper. Trace around the edges with a pencil and cut out!
- Now, it's time to put the flowers together! Glue the round yellow dots to the center of the flowers.
- Then glue the stems to the back of the flowers.
- Glue the leaves to the flower stems.
- Use a pair of scissors to make a slit on the watering can where the red line was on the template. Then put the flowers through the slit.
- Arrange the flowers how you want them and then glue them to the back of the watering can.
- Now on to making the card. If you just want to use the flowers in the watering can as decor, you can stop. For the card, you'll want to take a piece of cardstock that is four times as long and about twice as wide as your completed flower and pot image. Then fold it in half.
- Cut two vertical slits on the closed side of the card, about an inch long.
- Open the card and push in the cutout slot so you have a square sticking out.
- If you want, you can use markers or colored paper to decorate the border of the card or add another piece of different colored cardstock to the back.
- The final step is to glue the flower watering can on the pop-up slot so that it pop ups when the card is open!
- Write or color whatever sentiment you want on the bottom of the card. We colored in Happy Mother's Day with crayons!
