Hi Friends! I am still working on decor for our new bookshelves I added to our hallway.
I’ve shown you how to make a DIY chalkboard sign, DIY wooden signs with sayings, and today I have an Our Love Story sign tutorial. I have always seen the “What a Difference a Day Makes” sign and knew I had to make one myself.
I’ve also been seeing the reverse canvas hack and the light bulb went off! Two projects in one! Woo Hoo!
This project is actually really easy if you have a Cricut cutting machine. I love mine!! (You can get my Ultimate Cricut Ideas Guide here!!) This sign is hand painted and I didn’t even have to use a stencil.
Want to know the secret?? I had the Cricut write on the canvas and then I just filled it in with a painting pen!! Easy as that! So, let’s get started!

Making a Hand Painted Reverse Canvas Sign
I put together a quick video to show you how to make your own reverse canvas sign. Make sure to watch it at the top or side of this post for the step by step directions.
You’ll have to design your file in Cricut Design Space or Inkscape or wherever you are most comfortable with.
The one mistake I made on this was to use a font that had a lot of jagged edges on the top line and our last name. This took forever to write with the Cricut!!
The other fonts with all the names and dates went really quickly so next time I will know to use pretty simple fonts. I used an 11×14 canvas.
You could use this method for any saying you want to put on a canvas. There are a lot of free SVG files with generic sayings online.
There are also different color paint pens so you could make a colorful sign if you want.
I love how this came out and it goes perfectly in our hallway!!
