I have been trying to make a lot more Christian content for my fellow people of faith. This one is a little different than all my printable bible verses.
It is a single printable of the lyrics to the Christian song, It Is Well With My Soul. I don’t know about you, but I never really knew the words to the actual verses, besides the chorus, and I definitely didn’t know the story behind one of my favorite hymns.
So I did some research and learned about the heartache behind this beautiful hymn that I sing out at church and in my car.

The Story Behind It Is Well With My Soul Lyrics
This amazing Christian hymn was written by Horatio Spafford in 1873. Mr. Spafford was a successful man living in Chicago in the 1960s.
His blessed life started to crumble into heartbreak when his only son died from scarlet fever in 1870. Then a year later, the great Chicago fire burned down all of his and his wife’s real estate investments.
As that part of his life wasn’t hard enough, there was more tragedy to come. In 1873, Horatio and his wife Anna, along with their four daughters decided to go to England for the holidays. Something came up last minute, and Horatio had to stay behind but would catch up with them soon.
Spafford’s wife and four daughters were on the Ville du Havre ship that collided with another ship on their way to England on November 22, 1873. 226 people lost their lives on the boat among them all of Spafford’s daughters. Anna was the lone survivor.
Horatio received a telegram of the horrific loss and shipped out the following day to be with his grief-stricken wife. While he sailed over the spot where the shipwreck occurred and sank, Horatio Gates Spafford wrote these lyrics of his hope and comfort in Jesus Christ :

The Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;

Even so, it is well with my soul.
Verses 4 and 5 are usually not sung in contemporary songs so I left them off of the printable but included them above.
Philip Bliss composed the song in 1876 and since then it has become a well-loved hymn that many Christian artists cover.
