Hi Friends, I have started branching out and writing posts about our travels. As most of you know, I try to save money wherever I can on my crafts and DIY (one of the reason why I started doing both was that I was too cheap to pay full price for things!). The area where we splurge sometimes is on travel.
I still try to find the best deals on hotels and VRBOs (or sometimes open credit cards for flights) wherever we go, but traveling is something that you’ll always remember. It doesn’t have to be big travels, almost all of our vacations have been in the US so far. We only have 18 years that we can make our kids go on vacations with us, so I want to make them great memories!
Back in my 20s, I backpacked through Europe with a friend, staying in hostels, and sleeping on trains. At this point in my life, I figure my hubby and I have worked hard for our money and we deserve to sleep on nice beds especially when we don’t sleep well! So, as you are looking at our travels, realize we are all in different seasons in our life and different things are important to different people.
My hubby and I always make a point to go away for our anniversary. Whether it’s just 45 minutes away to wine country or to Hawaii for our big anniversaries, this was a pact we made from the beginning. There is always something that can get in the way, but we know we will go away for at least two nights in October, and we have kept to it for 16 years! We are very fortunate to have parents and siblings nearby that can watch our kids!
I hope you get some inspiration from some of our trips. Please email me at email@example.com if you have any questions!
