How to Sew a Scrunchie!
– fabric – 1/4″ elastic – thread and sewing machine – Cricut Maker with fabric grip mat – Cricut Mini Easy Press and mat – Cricut or another cutting machine – Cricut iron on vinyl – Cricut sewing kit
The basic scrunchie pattern size is usually 3.5-4 inches wide by 22 inches long and is a perfect rectangle. This allows for the seam allowance and for the fabric to scrunch up. You can go a little longer to 24 or 25 inches if you want a larger one.
Making Your Scrunchie
I am using my Cricut Maker to cut out the fabric. If you don’t have a Maker, you can cut out rectangles of 3.75 inches wide by 22 inches long with scissors or a rotary cutter and then continue with cutting out iron-on vinyl with a Cricut Explore Air 2 or Cricut Joy.
